Manually editing a leaflet gives you control over where content is placed, how large or small it should be, which Themes should apply and much more.
This guide walks you through the basic interactions and tools you can use to edit your leaflet manually.
📖 In this guide, we’ll go through:
Edit a single area
Sometimes, you want one area of a page to stand out from the rest. With Horizon's manual editing functionalities, you can easily do so!
Select and edit an area
Left-click on an area.
This selects the area content, and allows you to edit and adjust it using the right hand panel:
2. ‘Content’ section: This is where you edit what the area contains, such as text, images or product information sourced from your product feed or briefing data.
3. ‘Area’ section: In the Area section you can apply a background image and a theme, and also modify the theme’s tokens, and thereby make the area’s appearance different from the standard theme.

Resize an area
Hover your cursor over the horizontal or vertical border between two areas.
Left-click, hold and then drag in either direction to resize.
Apply themes, split an area and more
Right-clicking on an area opens a menu with several options:
Apply theme: Allows you to select one of your Themes and apply it to that area.
Learn more about Themes:
Split area: Allows you to split the selected area in two. You’ll need to choose in which direction the area should be split: Above, below, left or right.
Offer image:
Convert to cover: Horizon automatically tries to detect whether an offer is a packshot or a cover, and chooses the area template accordingly. If Horizon mistakenly detects a cover as a packshot, you can manually convert it to a cover.
Disable image optimizations: By default, Horizon removes the background of a packshot. If the background should be included for a specific packshot, you can disable image optimizations.
Delete: Deletes the area. After doing so, the content is lost.
Edit more than one area simultaneously
If you want to make the same changes to more than one area, it’s best to do so for all those areas at the same time, instead of each area individually.
How to select multiple areas
To select multiple areas, left-click on one area, then hold Control on PC or Command on Mac, and then left-click on additional areas.
Alternatively, you can click the arrow next to an offer to select all areas in that section:
How to edit multiple areas
With multiple areas selected, right-click and you’ll be presented with a menu with the following options:
You can…
Apply a theme to the selected areas.
Merge the selected offers to a single offer.
Convert all selected areas to cover, packshot or disable image optimizations.
Delete the selected areas.
Edit all areas on a page
If you want to make the same changes to all areas on a page, it’s best to do so for all areas on the page at the same time, instead of each area individually.
You can easily do so. Just…
1. Click on an offer and then click the arrow next to the offer.
2. Then, click the arrow next to the section.
3. With all areas of the page selected, click the “Area” section in the right-hand panel.
Then, you can apply a theme, add a background or change tokens for all areas on the page.
Edit page layout
The look and feel of your leaflet is not only made up of the individual areas, but also by the layout. And, with Horizon, you have a lot of manual control over the layout.
The Scratchpad
Each section of your leaflet has its own Scratchpad. It’s a dedicated workspace outside the leaflet, where you can place offers, images, videos and other content.
You can use the Scratchpad to temporarily store areas or content you’re not ready to place on the page yet.
This is especially useful when reorganizing complex layouts or testing different designs.
Note that the content in your scratchpad will not be published with your leaflet.
Move an area
1. Left-click an area and hold.
Then, either:
2. Drag and drop it to a new position on the leaflet, or
3. Move it to the Scratchpad for later use.
This makes it easy to experiment with layouts and placements without losing content.
Add a new area
1. Hover your cursor at an area’s vertical or horizontal border and left-click the ‘+’ next to an area.
This creates a new area. You can then populate that area with content:
2. Hover your cursor on the new area and click the ‘+’ icon. Then, simply select the type of content you want to add to that area.
Change Page Template
Instead of manually reorganizing a page in your leaflet to get the right layout, you can change the Page Template for that page.
Click the ‘gear’ icon on the top right of the page.
Hover your cursor over “Change template”.
Select the Page Template you want to use.

Please note that, in that ‘gear’ icon menu, you also have the options to apply a theme to the page, move all content on the page to a section (the Scratchpad), or delete the page.
Add a new page to your leaflet
If you want to add an extra page to your leaflet, you can do so:
Left-click the ‘+’ icon between pages
Choose a Page Template.
Once the page is added, the layout and the areas on the page can be edited and adjusted as for any other page.
That’s it!
By combining left- and right-click actions, dragging and adding new content, you can quickly build, refine and reorganize your leaflet until it looks juuust right.
